Spring is officially here, but although the days are getting warmer and the evenings are drawing out, there can still be quite a nip in the air and the possibility of frost is likely to remain for at least the near future. Still, the spring is a great time for getting your garage in order, as it’s far nicer to be able to concentrate on hobbies in a clean, tidy and most importantly warm environment. Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than trying to concentrate on something really intricate, interesting or downright fiddly when your fingers are cold, or even worse when you can’t feel your feet anymore. The solution is to install a good quality garage heater that will quickly warm up your space in the most efficient way possible. The first thing to decide is whether or not you want a radiant garage heater, or a garage heater that works by warming up the air.

Radiant Garage Heaters

Radiant garage heaters can often be an extremely efficient way of warming up the garage or workshop. They work by emitting invisible infrared rays. These infrared rays will heat up objects that fall in their path. This is an excellent way of keeping warm if your garage is extremely draughty, or if it needs to be very well ventilated. For example if you tend to work with a lot of solvents or chemicals which give out fumes then you’re more likely to need to keep the windows open, or to have to use some sort of ventilation units. In this case a radiant heat garage heater could be the ideal solution.

Electric Garage Heaters

Another solution is to use an electric garage heater. This might be a suitable choice if you don’t need to keep the windows and doors open for ventilation, and if your garage is relatively well insulated against the cold. An electric garage heater is a reasonably quiet and efficient way of heating up a garage or workshop. The only noise should be that of a fan as it pushes the air across the heating coils and out into the space surrounding the garage heater. It is a very clean way of heating up your garage and is quick and easy to use. It is perfect if you only need to heat your garage occasionally, as electricity isn’t always the most efficient way of doing so.

Propane Garage Heater

There is also another choice of heating up your garage and by using a propane garage heater. A propane garage heater can be a very fast and efficient way of heating up a workshop, especially if it contains a fan to force out the air. A lot of these types of heaters come with louvered vents that can be adjusted to help direct the air way you need it most. There are a huge range of different sizes and styles, making it easy to choose the correct one for your garage. It’s also possible to use this type of forced air propane heater during the warmer months in spring and summer without heat, simply to keep the air circulating. However any type of heating system that uses a naked flame has to meet certain requirements and combustible materials must be kept well away from the unit.
